I work in the general area of maternal health and mental health. In particular, I am interested in the perinatal transition, involving the last months of pregnancy and the first months of new motherhood, a time of increased physical and psychological vulnerability for women. My studies focus on how physical factors, such as general health, psychological factors, such as anxiety, and contextual factors, such as birth interventions, interact to predict mothers’ physical, psychic, and social well being over the short and long term. My studies involve qualitative (interview) and quantitative methods.
